From Kathleen McGwin:
The Wisconsin Friends of John Muir is hosting Justin Isherwood at their annual meeting on Saturday, March 28 at 1 PM at Vaughn Hall, 55 West Montello Street.
The event is free and open to the public. Isherwood is a sixth generation Central Wisconsin farmer as well as an author of several books and is working on Walking on Water II, a collection of essays about groundwater and agriculture.
Isherwood’s books include Book of Plough: Essays on the Virtue of Farm, Family, and the Rural Life, Farm Kid: Tales of Growing Up in Rural America, and Christmas Stones and the Story Chair. His writing has also appeared in Audubon, Harrowsmith, Country Life and the Wall Street Journal. His book The Farm West of Mars was selected by the Robert Gard Foundation in a manuscript search project in the early 1980s.
The Wisconsin farmer and author says that he “writes, grows vegetables, and taps maple trees on his family farm in Plover, Wisconsin, near the Buena Vista Marsh.” He is also coeditor of A Place to Which We Belong: Wisconsin Writers on Wisconsin Landscapes, published by the UW Press.
There will be a short business meeting of WFJM after the speaker followed by refreshments. Join Wisconsin Friends of John Muir on Saturday, March 28 at 1 PM at Vaughn Hall in Montello to hear Wisconsin potato farmer and author Justin Isherwood.
